Setting Up Menu Management

Setting Up Menu Management

Open Administration and choose Menu Management Settings to reach the Menu Management Configuration page.
Saving on this page updates your meal calendar and may add or remove calendar entries. You'll be asked to confirm before the changes are applied.

Enable Menu Management

The Enable Menu Management setting turns the whole feature on or off. Set it to Yes to make the Menus area available.

Menu Features

  • Menu Components: choose Dietary needs only (no ingredient tracking) or Dietary needs and ingredients (track recipe ingredients for scaling and shopping lists).
  • Meal Components: choose how your menus are structured (see the three modes below).
  • Enable automatic meal/product substitutions: when set to Yes, clients whose dietary needs match a substitution rule are automatically moved to a substitution meal. See  Dietary Substitutions  .

The three Meal Components modes

Dietary needs assigned directly to day — the simplest option. You assign dietary needs straight to each calendar day; there are no meals or dishes. Available only when the recurring schedule is turned off.
Meals assigned to day, dietary needs and ingredients assigned to meals — you assign a meal to each product on a day, and attach dietary needs and ingredients to the meal.
Meals with dishes, dietary needs and ingredients assigned to dishes — meals are built from individual dishes, and dietary needs and ingredients are attached to the dish. The most detailed option.

Calendar Setup

  • Enable recurring meal schedule — turn this on to repeat a fixed rotation (for example, a 10-week cycle).
  • Weeks in schedule (1–26) — appears only when the recurring schedule is on; sets how many weeks the rotation repeats over.
  • Calendar week length — choose a 5-day week (Mon–Fri) or a 7-day week (Sun–Sat) .
  • Product Calendaring — the first time, click Initialize meal calendar . Afterward, use Product Calendaring Setup to choose which products appear on the calendar and, if you use substitutions, to designate each product's substitution meal.
When you're finished, click Save Settings and confirm.
