Edit Notification Settings

Edit Notification Settings

Control how a volunteer is contacted — their email and SMS opt-in status and which notifications they receive. The form adapts to the volunteer's current consent state (opted in, opted out, email bounced, or never consented).

Opening the volunteer's Notification Settings form

To open the Notification Settings form:
On the Volunteers page, click the Volunteers tab.
Click the volunteer's name to open their profile.
Click the Edit dropdown, then Notification Settings.

Filling out the form

The form shows status banners for the volunteer's current state (e.g., opted out, email bounced, or SMS pending) along with the relevant controls.
Email
  • Opted in for email communications — toggle email on or off. When turning it on, choose a Consent method : Staff entry (verbal/other) or Paper enrollment form .
  • Once opted in, per-notification toggles let you pick which emails they receive: Job Assigned , Signup Approved , Signup Rejected , Time Off Cancellation Approved/Rejected , Day-Before Shift Reminder , and Weekly Shift Digest .
  • If a previous email bounced or the volunteer opted out, a banner appears with an option to reactivate / re-enroll.
SMS (shown when SMS is enabled)
  • SMS phone number — the number texts are sent to. It locks once consent is active; use Change Number to update it (which resets their SMS consent).
  • Opted in for SMS communications — toggle SMS on or off, with a Consent method when opting in.
  • Once opted in, a Day-Before Shift Reminder SMS toggle is available.
  • For a volunteer who hasn't consented, use Send Opt-In SMS to text them an invitation, or record manual consent.
Click Save when you're done.
