Committing Deliveries is the process that marks pending deliveries for a day as delivered and stores the delivery records on the clients' delivery histories for eventual billing. Deliveries may be committed manually at any point during or prior to the scheduled delivery day. If deliveries are not committed manually, the system will automatically commit the deliveries at the end of the scheduled delivery day.
When and why to commit deliveries early
Prior to committing deliveries, changes to a client's delivery order can be made using temporary stops, specials, or status changes. After deliveries have been committed, deliveries for the day can be edited on the clients' delivery history page.
If you edit a client's delivery history and then reprint the relevant route sheet, the route sheet will reflect the edited delivery order.
Some organizations find it useful to commit deliveries at their cutoff time for accepting delivery changes from clients. This can be useful for aligning with organizational procedures around preparing route sheets and labels for the next day, and it can be easier to make last-minute day-of-delivery changes by editing a client's delivery history instead of entering a temporary stop.
Committing deliveries early and/or manually is optional. Allowing the system to auto-commit deliveries at the end of the day is an acceptable and frequently used practice.
How to commit deliveries
To commit deliveries manually:
Navigate to the Deliveries page. If necessary, adjust the delivery date for the page to the desired date using the arrow buttons on the top left or the Change date button on the top right.
Click the green Commit Deliveries button on the bottom left of the page. When prompted to confirm, select Yes, I'm sure to finish committing the deliveries.
After you have committed deliveries, a green Edit Deliveries button will be displayed in place of the Commit Deliveries button. You may select this button to edit deliveries for the day by zone or route.
